The crew of the IKV DOQTAJ had been waiting for this event for a long time! BREWCON was started by friend and Organizer Pete Salazar as a hybrid event that would be a family friendly comic con, a brewery tasting, and a rock show all in one! It was held in downtown Fresno, so we didn’t have far to go in our shuttle. It was a crisp Autumn day so Man’TA and I donned our full Imperial regalia and ridges for the occasion. There were many guests by the time we arrived, so we had to march from a few blocks away, and were greeted by several Terrans giving us high fives and taking photos. We arrived and threatened the local fleeties at the door, the crew of the USS Saroyan, and gained entrance. There was a band playing in the brewery, and b list celebs like Nick Depalma (a 90s ninja turtle) and Stephen Constantino (pig guard from Return of the Jedi) signing autographs, and they were sampling Terran ale, and even had a special brew for sale with the con label! Out back of the building was a large vendor area with tents and the second stage, and we found some tables to enjoy the Folklorico dancers and our newly bought ale and BBQ. At 1400 hours, we lined up for the cosplay competition, and won in the Craftsmanship Category for our homemade armor! We browsed the marketplace, got a great professional photo and some swag, and left happy. It was a stellar event, with great cosplay, rock and suds, that went well into the night after we left. I will need to get blood wine mugs for next year! Men’JA OUT!
