On Sunday, March 13th, Cub Scout Pack 346 of Lake Elsinore hosted their annual Blue and Gold Celebration.
This year’s theme was SciFi. So with that in mind, a rallying cry was put out, and the response excellent.
The scouts arrived in all manner of attire, from T-Shirts declaring their favorite TV Show or Movie, to all manner of Sith and Jedi. There was even a few running around in Star Fleet uniforms.
After the kids started to arrive, agents of the 501st arrived on the scene, with a member of the Imperial Senate, and the latest light sword wielders in the form of Kylo Ren and a girl named Rey. They had also recruited a Mandalorian Mercenary and a few desert dwelling denizens to round them out.
At that time, the Pack also learned that their Cub Master was in fact 1stLt Mox tai-Kurkura, who was joined by house father, and KAG Founder, Thought Admiral Kris epetai-Kurkura.
During the event, an offer went out; for those that were curious how they would appear with Warrior’s Ridges, Kris had brought along his recruiting bag, and he could outfit anyone in a vest and ridges for a photo opportunity. One brave soul stepped up, and seemed to take to the ridges, and enjoyed it so much that he spent the remainder of the day in uniform. Since it’s not proper that a warrior be without some manner of weapon, he was thus armed with the disruptor that appeared in Mindscanner 95. He spent the balance of the day enjoying his new found warrior status. He was so convincing that a lot of the parents and Scouts thought that he was part of the Klingon contingency.
In honor of their attendance, the Pack Chairman (playing Rey for the day), asked that the Klingons judge the centerpieces that were assembled by the Scouts and their parents. Though there were several center pieces that deserved distinction, the assembly of a classic style ship from some back water planet hovering over a terran camp site was determined to be the winner as it embodied the theme of the day combined with a scouting activity.
A feast was enjoyed by the attendees and guests; stories were shared and swapped, and photos taken throughout the day.
By the end of the day, Kris was presented the communicator that will be demonstrated in Mindscanner 96 to add to his collection, and hopefully will be used as a display piece to show at conventions that great looking props don’t have to be expensive, or heavy. Kris bestowed the ridges on the new warrior since they seemed to fit him so well, and to encourage him to move forward with his new found Warrior Status, and he presented Mox with an award to commemorate the day.
All in all, it was a great day shared by all.
I want to thank Kris for making the trek to attend the event, it was an honor and a privilege. I know that my scouts and parents enjoyed having you.
